Hello there, I am trying to process some specific gene data and it looks like there are some discrepancies in Ensembl IDs and gene names between the Allen Atlas and other sources. I am curious if there is a way to troubleshoot this issue and confirm that I am looking at the correct gene. For example, the GRIN2B gene has an Ensembl ID of ENSG00000150086 in Allen, but in other sources GRIN2B typically pops up as ENSG00000273079. Thus, they have the same name but different Ensembl IDs. In another example, the gene ID ENSG00000187164 is typically associated with the SHTN1 gene, however it is named KIAA1598 in Allen. In this case, the ID is the same but the gene name is different. I hope this made sense, but I would love to find a general rule or way to understand these differences as I have had quite a few pop up in the genes I am interested in. Thank you!
Hi Maddy,
Thank you for reaching out. Gene_symbols and Ensembl_ids can change with each reference update. The gene_symbols and Ensembl_ids listed in our datasets reflect the reference version used for that analysis. Our datasets do not use current gene_symbols/ Ensembl_ids.
