Are raw intracellular recording potential traces compensated for offset potential?

Hi,

I am analyzing the raw traces of intracellular recordings. I noticed that in the Gouwens et al 2019 paper, it is mentioned :

Data were reported uncorrected for the measured –14 mV liquid junction potential between the electrode and bath solutions

Does that mean that the traces in the NWB files , notably for long square protocols, should be down shifted by 14mV? Or are the traces already compensated for the offset potential, and are ready to use? I notably checked the values form a GLIF 3 model, and the “EL_reference” parameter matched the traces from a nwb file, so it would seem the traces are actually corrected ?

Thank you for your help,

Best

Julien

They are not adjusted for the liquid junction potential. I believe the outputs from the models were translated afterwards to match the uncorrected traces (so that they would be comparable in the web app, etc.).
