Error when trying to downloading selected MERFISH cells

Hello, am new here, but don’t see this question already posted. Basically, selecting brain regions in the MERFISH images gives me a download arrow on the right to download the first 100 selected cells. But clicking it inevitably gives the error: “There was a problem fetching data for this page. Try again later and refresh the page” (screenshot below).

I have tried this on three different computers, and several different browsers. Refreshing the page does not work. Trying “later” for the past two days hasn’t worked either. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I’m unfortunately having trouble reproducing the issue, could you share a bit more information to help us identify the problem?

Here are a few things that would help:

  • Sharing the current URL in your browser when you see the error message
  • Is the error happening only when selecting a particular brain region, or is the download broken regardless of which region you make selections?
  • Can you download data from a different, non-MERFISH dataset?
  • Are you on a VPN or corporate/institution network?
  • Which browsers did you try, and have they been recently updated?

Thanks very much for your feedback. After some more testing, I discovered that the error only occurs if I’ve selected one or more checkboxes at the top-right of each individual brain section. If I uncheck all the boxes, the error goes away, and I can download a .csv file. But then of course the screen takes longer to update because it is drawing all dots on all sections, including ones I’m not interested in.

Of course, it would still be great to fix whatever is wrong, but for now at least I know how to work around this.

To answer your other questions, the exact URL is extremely long and complex. It all starts when I navigate to: https: //knowledge.brain-map.org/abcatlas", but then the url quickly changes to something like: https: //knowledge.brain-map.org/abcatlas#AQEBSzlKTjIzUDI0S1FDR0s5VTc1QQACSFNZWlBaVzE2NjlVODIxQldZUAADAQEyTlFUSUU3VEFNUDhQUUFITzRQAAIAAAQBAAKEQIgKgpZfTQOE6DeAhApJBAQyTlFUSUU3VEFNUDhQUUFITzRQAAWBr6ZKgemsDoGggUeAktXoBgAHAAAFAQFTY24zYgAABgEBAkZTMDBEWFYwVDlSMVg5Rko0UUUAA34AAAAEAAAIVkZPRllQRlFHUktVRFFVWjNGRgAJTFZEQkpBVzhCSTVZU1MxUVVCRwAKAAsBVExPS1dDTDk1UlUwM0Q5UEVURwACNzNHVlREWERFR0UyN00yWEpNVAADAQQBAAIjMDAwMDAwAAPIAQAFAQECIzAwMDAwMAADyAEAAAACAQA%3D

Also, the problem happened on every browser I’ve tried (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) on at least three different computers, both inside a school network, and at home. In other words, I think browser and network have nothing to do with it, and it is a bug involving some quirk of what happens when an individual brain section is selected.

Hopefully this helps, and thanks again for looking into this!

Ahhh yep I’m seeing it now too when I select particular slices with the checkbox, thank you!

I’ve reported the bug, we’ll dig into it more and find a fix!
