How to: Download Specimen Information

Researchers exploring specimens in the Brain Knowledge Platform can download specimen information to continue their work elsewhere.

Primarily, the downloaded CSV lists the IDs of the specimens in this project which matched the current filter selection. In this example, the list would include 259 specimen IDs. Those IDs can be cross-referenced to raw data manifests, such as this for the Allen Institute’s Mouse Patch-seq data from visual cortex, to locate source data for specimens of interest.

Secondarily, the downloaded CSV includes the website url at the time of the download, which embeds the filter selections, sort selections, and current view. This makes it easy for someone with the CSV to be reminded what properties the specimens listed in the CSV shared.
