Updated search UI in Brain Knowledge Platform’s Data Catalog

The search experience in the Brain Knowledge Platform’s (BKP) Data Catalog received a visual overhaul.

A new filter menu allows scientists to filter for relevant projects across species, modality, technique, primary author, specimen type, program, and sub program. It takes up less screen space and allocates more space to the search results.

Click on the check box to apply a filter. The bars & numbers indicate the number of relevant result, e.g. 97 projects for species mouse. Numbers update relative to the selected filters.

Clear filters by deselecting the checkbox or clear all filters in a section by clicking the X in the section’s # filters button. Alternatively, you can also clear all filters with a single click.

A new results table increases focus on getting an overview of relevant results via core project metadata (species, modality, technique, primary author) & project resources (number of data collections, specimens, protocols, etc).

Scientists can then click on the project names to open the respective project details page and learn more.

The search table is also interactive. Click on the underlined entries in the columns to add them as a filter, e.g. modality = transcriptomics.

The search results return up to 50 results by default. Additional results can be loaded by clicking the Load More button.
