Mapping the Human Brain

I feel this area really doesn’t get enough attention. In my opinion, being able to essentially upload someone’s brain onto a computer and combining that data with brain machine interfaces will definitely become something huge in the coming years.

Here’s all the interesting I know of relating to the topic, if you know of anything else please name it!

The Connectome Project - Mapping the connections between the neurons in our brain. This is especially huge because the connections are pretty much everything. I think this is the forefront of brain mapping at the moment

I don’t know of any studies with this focus, but there is a large body of research about brain-computer interfaces with the goal of using the brain to directly control computers or robots in some way (e.g., to allow paralyzed patients to use a robotic arm). A recent, open-access review article about this is here.
