ABC Atlas Updates: Introducing Cell Type Cards

With this release we introduce an exciting new feature to the ABC Atlas: Cell Type Cards! When viewing a cell type in ABC Atlas, additional information about the taxon is now just a click away.

There are two ways to open a Cell Type Card:

  1. In the Cell Properties menu, hover over a cell type name to show the Cell Type Card button. Click the button to open the card on the right.

  2. In a view colored by cell type, hover over a cell to show the tool tip. Click on the tool tip to reveal the action buttons. Click “Learn More” to open the Cell Type Card on the right.

With this initial release, Cell Type Cards show two types of information: Nomenclature and Taxonomy. More information will be added in the future, let us know what you’d like to see here!

Nomenclature
Each component of the cell type name is represented in a box with the full name of the entity and a tag indicating the general entity type.

Note: Cell Type Cards display information about the taxonomy and the reference data used to create them. If you are viewing a dataset that has been mapped to this taxonomy, some attributes shown on the card may not be present in every dataset. For example, genes used in the cell type name may not appear in the dataset you are currently viewing.

Taxonomy
General information about the taxon including its position in the ontology and links to related parent and child nodes.

As always, thank you for being part of the AIBS community. Please let us know how we can improve the ABC Atlas to better serve your needs.
